Burlington heritage sites

A heritage building means a structure that requires preservation because of its historical, architectural, cultural, aesthetic or ecological value. I took the photos myself. The Shaver Building (2015-2017 Lakeshore Rd.) The Shaver Building was constructed in 1881 by James Cushie Bent, originally as a two-and-a-half storey brick structure with front dormers with Victorian gingerbread and arched windows. The brick string course is visible just beneath the four well-proportioned second-storey windows. The structure is built to fill the acute angle at the Lakeshore Road intersection with John Street. According to the 1915 Sewerage Works Plan, the building was formerly a Bank of Hamilton with a store (frame) to the west. The Hamilton Radial Railway Line is shown running down John Street and curving west here to a brick warehouse for Dominion Canners on the south side of Water Street.
